Huawei, Optus to Jointly Build Mobile Innovation Center in Australia

Chinese telecom equipment provider Huawei announced on May 21 that it has teamed up with Australian mobile operator Optus to set up a Mobile Innovation Center, to be located in Sydney, Australia, according to a press release by Huawei.

According to the press release, the Center will deliver the state-of-the-art technologies and products to Optus, leveraging Huawei proprietary mobile and wireless equipment and technologies. This Mobile Innovation Center, slated to begin operations in August 2008, is projected to help accelerate the adoption of high-speed mobile and wireless broadband in Australia and enhance Optus's future mobile network quality and performance. Details concerning the amount of investment, however, were not yet disclosed.
